Yukimi Daifuku 雪見だいふく

Food enthusiast alert!

I thought I'd write about food today. I tried mochi ice-cream a few months ago, and still haven't grown out of it. My parents used to buy it all the time, but it isn't as readily available anymore unfortunately. Yukimi Daifuku, or mochi ice-cream, is a ball of soft vanilla ice-cream wrapped in mochi and best served fresh out of the freezer.

I personally eat mochi ice-cream when it's been left out to defrost a little, so the ice-cream is a little softer than usual. It comes in different flavours, including vanilla, chocolate and green tea, and I'm sure many more that I'm yet to try!

If you have access to a Japanese/Asian supermarket, I'd definitely recommend you to go and buy a box of these. So. Good!

Craving Halo-Halo

Photobucket
Halo-Halo (literal English translation: "mix-mix") is a Filipino dessert.

A combination of jellies, beans and crushed ice topped with condensed milk and a scoop of Ube ice cream (purple yam flavour).

For someone not acquainted with Filipino food/culture, it may sound disgusting or whatever, but it really isn't! It's perfect for cooling down on a hot day in the summer maybe... but if you live in Philippines you can have it all year 'round since it feels like summer everyday of the year! Brings back memories of when I used to live in Phili...

Everytime we go for vacation, I make a DAILY trip to SM Mall or to the nearest Chow King (a popular food chain in the Philippines) to have my daily dose of Halo-Halo ;)
